“Just For the Health of It”
Central Jersey Family Health Consortium has had the privilege to partner with the East Brunswick Public Library and the "Just For the Health of It" health literacy initiative. Funded by the National Library of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health, and the Department of Health and Human Services this project involves direct health literacy work at community health fairs and workshops, personal health research and consulting, as well as an impressive online database called Wellinks (www.wellinks.org). The Consortium has teamed up with the library to engage in resource sharing, and the specialized consumer health librarians have graciously posted information about several CJFHC programs and services. Specifically, a special directory for "Pregnant and New Moms" was added to the website to provide information on Strong Start, Postpartum Depression, Early Intervention, Central Intake, and Perinatal Addictions. We look forward to maintaining this connection with the library in order to continue to disseminating understandable and relevant health information to our community.
