Velva Dawson, MPA
Velva Dawson is the Chief Executive Officer of the Central Jersey Family Health Consortium (CJFHC). Her career spans community health, philanthropy, and nonprofit operations. Having administrative oversight of the agency she oversees a variety of community-based initiatives that serve women, children and families throughout NJ. The Consortium is a regionalized network of agencies and providers involved in the delivery of perinatal and pediatric services whose mission is to promote an equitable and healthy future for families through services, advocacy, education and collaboration. She began her career at CJFHC advancing to Deputy Director and Chief Operations Officer, later spending nearly a decade at Johnson & Johnson strengthening global philanthropic operations and stewarding a $50 million annual grant portfolio. Now leading CJFHC, she focuses on expanding access to care, strengthening partnerships, and advancing health equity across Central Jersey. Velva holds a BS in Psychology from Howard University and a MPA in Healthcare Management from Seton Hall University, as well as completed executive education at Columbia and Harvard Business Schools.
