Fetal Infant Mortality Review

Fetal Infant Mortality Review

Fetal Infant Mortality Review Program

The Central Jersey Family Health Consortium established a Regional Perinatal Bereavement Task Force as part of the Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) Program of the New Jersey Department of Health.  This Task Force is comprised of health care professionals and consumers from our region to address the needs of parents and families who have suffered a fetal or neonatal loss.  Clergy, social workers, funeral directors, nurses, doctors, bereavement coordinators, mental health therapists and community program facilitators will have the opportunity to learn from each other so that we can better care for and minister to grieving parents and families.

Engaging Healthcare Professionals

In the past, guest speakers have included a funeral director, Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep photographer, NJ Tears parent representative and Circle of Life Children’s Center (palliative care) representatives.  Additional topics have included meeting standards of care for perinatal bereavement resources, community resources, professional resources and family education.  In addition, the committee is working towards providing bereavement education for professionals in our region.
