The Central Jersey Family Health Consortium Fall Holiday Food Drive was borne from the desire to help families that participate in their programs enjoy a bountiful season with their loved ones. Their efforts kicked off October 1 and will conclude during Thanksgiving week, when the CJFHC staff hand delivers supermarket and Walmart store gift cards or grocery bags containing every day food staples and goodies to help the families celebrate Thanksgiving. When requested, culturally specific and special diet foods packages are provided. Since 2010, CJFHC has collected non-perishable food and monetary donations from staff, community partners, board members and friends of the consortium. As a result, CJFHC has assisted hundreds of families get through the holidays. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, they were unable to deliver actual bags to the families, however, gift cards were provided to grateful program families. In 2021, CJFHC is poised to bring back the individual family food packages and were able to assist over 150 families. For the twelfth year of the Food Drive, 2022, CJFHC looks forward to welcoming more organizations and individuals to participate in transforming the holiday for some of Central Jersey’s most deserving families.
