Early literacy is about more than just books – the journey to becoming a strong reader starts long before a child can read words on a page. Connecting NJ invites parents and caregivers to our upcoming virtual education session, "You Are Never Too Young For Books!", where you will learn simple and engaging activities to help your baby develop essential early literacy skills.
When: Tuesday, April 30, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Where: Virtual via Zoom. Register Here!
Presenter: Melissa Nemitz, Head of Children's Services, Hunterdon County Library System
This session will introduce activities you can do at home to set the foundation for reading success—many of which you may already be doing in your daily routine. From singing and talking to your baby to pretend playing and storytelling, these interactions help develop language skills, cognitive abilities, and a lifelong love of reading.
Additionally, parents will learn about the wealth of resources available through local libraries, including:
- Infant and children’s classes
- Engaging activities and free story-time sessions
- A diverse selection of books and activities to rent for all ages
- Family-friendly programs designed to support early literacy
Melissa Nemitz, the Head of Children’s Services at Hunterdon County Library Systems and an expert in children’s services will provide valuable insights on how to integrate literacy into everyday moments, making learning fun and natural for your child.
No matter how young your baby is, it is never too early to start building a strong reading foundation. Join us for this informative session and discover new ways to nurture your child’s love of books and learning.
