CJFHC's Cheryl McFarland Highlights Concerns Over Suspension of Pregnancy Risk Assessment Data Collection

Cheryl McFarland, director of Evaluation and Analytics at CJFHC, was recently featured in an NJ Spotlight News article discussing the potential ramifications of the recent decision by the administration to suspend the collection of crucial pregnancy risk assessment data. She emphasized the critical role that this data plays in identifying and addressing health disparities, “The PRAMS data is really the only consistently available data that provides information about pregnancy, breastfeeding after leaving the hospital, contraceptive use, abuse, and various other factors that are useful in understanding birthing people’s experiences before, during, and after pregnancy,” McFarland said.

The suspension of collecting this data, which has been instrumental in shaping maternal and infant health policies in New Jersey, could significantly hinder efforts to improve health outcomes for mothers and babies across the state.

At CJFHC, we remain committed to advocating for the health and well-being of families in Central Jersey, AND ensuring that all mothers and infants receive the care and support they need.
