The Alma Program is New Jersey’s first-of-its-kind, evidence-based, peer mentoring program designed for new and expecting birthing persons experiencing depression, anxiety, stress or other mental and emotional struggles during pregnancy and postpartum.

Developed by a team of English and Spanish-speaking researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder, mental health providers, community members and parents, Alma gives new and expecting birthing people the support and skills they need to navigate this important time. The Alma program is rooted behavioral activation, a therapy backed by over 20 years of research, that focuses on developing behaviors that reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.
